Awards announced at Installation Ceremony 28 June 2010
During the 28 June 2010 Installation program the Paul Harris Award was given to Charles Skinner. This award, in honor of Rotary’s founder Paul Harris, is given to those special individuals who have furthered the Rotary ideals of service above self. Charles has been the point man organizing the Club’s fundraiser, the Annual Chicken Barbecue Dinner held in May. Especially noteworthy was the Rotarian of the Year Award to Sam Myers, dedicated Rotarian and outstanding citizen. Sam has always assumed his Club Service obligations with follow-through and great integrity. Sam was instrumental in developing Oriental Rotary Club’s newest fund raiser, the April In Water Boat Show. Alice Sontag received the Bill Mason Award. Named in honor of Bill Mason, long time Oriental businessman and founder of Oriental Rotary, the award recognizes those individuals who live the Four-Way Test – truthfulness, fairness, good will, and community service. Ms. Sontag’s has demonstrated a serious commitment to the development of Pamlico County Fishes and Loaves Program, a food outreach program which provides nutritious food to Pamlico’s neediest individuals.
